Resurrecting a Soaked Cell Phone

What if you went to the kitchen to fetch a glass of water and your cell phone fell into the sink, or even worse, dropping the gadget into the toilet?  What if you forgot your cellphone in your trousers and they were soaked and spinned inside the washer?  What if you went to relax beside the pool, and unexpectedly your iPhone falls to the bottom of the swimming pool?  What if your kids decide to play with your mobile phone and dip it inside the living room aquarium to distract the goldfish?  All of these things do happen in real life and could kill your treasured cell phone.

If hypothetically one of these events do occur to you, how would you resurrect your soaking phone?  Well, there are ways to bring the dripping gadget back to life if you act fast enough.  The following trick might bring your phone back to life, hopefully.

“Many of you have probably heard of this trick before, and it really does work. If your phone takes an unexpected swim, you can save it by removing the battery (if possible), getting it to a bag of rice as quickly as you can, and leaving it there for a day or two (the longer, the better). If your screen’s having problems due to moisture, you can often massage stuck pixels away with your fingers, too.”

I try my best to keep a tight hold of my cellphone, but just in case it might end up in a puddle, at least I would know what to do, before heading up to Amazon.com and buying a replacement.  I have an old inexpensive Chinese Apple clone cell phone, but many of my friends own a much more advanced and costly device.  Replacing it would be more expensive and the pinch to the pocket could be quite painful.  Ouch! Good Day.

  1. I once ran my phone through a complete cycle in a washing machine. Oddly enough, when it dried out it worked fine,.

  2. I fear the washing machine is the greatest threat to mine, too. If I’ve been sanding in the morning and intend to varnish in the afternoon, I’ll often come home at lunch and change clothes. If I’m distracted, the phone stays in the pocket and – well, disaster’s possible! Thanks for the tip!

  3. Hi Richard and Linda:

I see that forgetting the cellphone in our clothes seems to be a common problem. If that happens, is highly likely it will end up in tour washing machine.

Some are lucky others aren’t. If this tip helps those whose electronic device stopped working after getting wet, please spread out the word.

    Best Regards,

    Omar.-
