I remember my first visit to a Panamanian supermarket. It was a Rey in Panama City. While my friend was standing in the queue to pay his light bill I wandered around to compare prices to what I was paying for things in the states. In the meat section I came across a pre-packaged lump that was labeled simply “Marinated Meat.” Didn’t say what KIND of meat, just that it was marinated. I thought, “I think I’ll take a pass on that…”
As a matter of fact, this was El Rey supermarket at El Dorado, near to our home. We were there to buy sandÃas and papayas. We enjoy eating fruits for breakfast. They were delicious, to say the least, albeit their prices have risen dramatically.
