An Interesting English Word

Yesterday afternoon, I received from a blogging friend, an e-mail depicting an interesting English word, that I thought should be shared to those who enjoy studying the English language.

The longest word in the English language that doesn’t contain the letter “e” is:  Floccinaescinihilipilification. The definition of this word is, (noun) “The act or habit of esteeming or describing something as worthless.”

There you have it.

Good Day!

  1. Hola Omar,
Wow, that is a page full of letters to make a word that describes something useless that does have the most USED letter in English. I think that might be called irony? Learning English is a lot like running in the jungle, there are “wait-a-minute” vines everywhere.

  2. Hola Jim y Nena:

That is exactly my point. It is one of the reasons many people who are learning English have such a bad time doing so. The language is so difficult. Yet, is so charismatic that you can’t live without it. Notwithstanding its complexity, it is one of the most used languages in the world. Even the Chinse people have learned to coexist with it.
