This is the metropolis of Panama City, the capital of the Republic of Panama. It has become the most modern city in Central America.
The dilapidated wharf in the foreground has been replaced by a more modern one. It is presently used to dock fishing vessels bringing fresh sea food to a nearby market.
The city rests beside the Bay of Panama in the Pacific Ocean, near the entrance of the Panama Canal, one of the most important waterways of the world.
