  1. Hello Linda:

I used my Canon DSLR camera and the “nifty-fifty” EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens to take these shots.

Tomorrow I plan to place an order for a true macro lens. It’s the EF-S Canon 60mm f/2.8 USM macro lens. The magnification ratio of this lens is 1:1, meaning that the size of the subject is exactly the same size as the exposure on the camera’s sensor or film plane.

What you can do with such a lens is beyond reality. I will allow me to see miniature worlds which are impossible to see with the naked eye. This will be my Christmas present and also a New Year’s Resolution—engagement in macro-photography.

That smooth curled petal is my favorite as well. It is so suble and sweet; almost magical.

It’s now 07:41 p.m. in Panama. Soon the churchs’ bells will be ringing announcing the birth of a New Year. It’s so nice to write to you on the last day of 2015, which has been a wonderful year for us.

Happy New Year and best wishes, my dear friend,
