  1. Morning Barbara,

This is the old face of some parts of Panama City. Soon this abandoned building will be replaced by another boring tower. I feel nostalgic for the beautiful architecture in Panama during the forties and fifties. They don’t build aesthtic structures nowadays. Everybody want to reach for the stars. For them, “tall is beautiful”. It’s isn’t necesarilly so, in my dictionary.

Yes, there is an atmosphere of sadness and desolation in these derelict structures of yesteryear.

  2. For too many years the City of Colon has been forgotten by central government authorities, specially after the United States relinquished jurisdiction of the Panama Canal Zone to the Republic of Panama.

Most of Colon looks like the Twilight Zone. I understand an impressive urban development program is taking place even as we speak.

Thank you for your comment. I like to read what our readers have to say.
