Optical Illusions

Not everything is what is seems.  Reality sometimes plays tricks on us, specially in the field of photography.  Such is the case of a cooking utensil used by my wife to cook our food.  I had looked at this implement for many years, but never really saw it until yesterday early morning.  It was then when I saw the photograph in my head.  I reached out for my camera and took the following shots.

This is not a bag with candies even though that is what it seems in this picture. Instead it is the exterior of a cooking utensil used by my wife mainly to mix ingredients to make cakes and other goodies. Snapshot taken with a P&S Canon PowerShot A720 IS camera in macro mode. And now you know that not everything you see in a photograph is real.  Good Day.

  1. That looks so much like the mix of hard candies that always were in my grandmother’s candy dish. In fact, that’s exactly what I thought it was at first. What a fun, wonderful composition!

  2. Morning Linda,

As you can see Linda, often our eyes play a naughty trick on us. This was a simple ordinary cooking utensil which looked very much like your grandmother’s candy dish. Isn’t photography fascinating and fun?

    Best Regards,

    Omar.-
