Hanging Out To Dry

Wet clothes hanging out to dry in our back terrace. That’s how we dry our clothes in Panama. We don’t use electric dryers, thus minimizing power consumption and spend less money. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.

For these set of pictures I used a DSRL Canon EOS Rebel T2i camera with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II prime lens. To avoid unnecessary flare I also used a polarizing filter. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.
To enhance the shots I used a post-processing software called Pixlr. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.

  1. Thank you Desley. I’m liking post-processing as much as taking the pictures. Next year I want to plunge into Light Room. That will be one of my challenges for 2015.

    Cheers,

    Omar.-

  2. Thank you Barbara. It was a pleasant experience post-processing the images. Photography is such an exciting hobby. You never know what you will find when you go out on a shooting spree.

    Bye,

    Omar.-

  3. I like the first photo, the clothespins (Nena says orquíllas) look like Christmas lights.
We hang clothes on the back porch in summer; during the winter we use the electric dryer but I modified it to use indoor air and the exhaust gets filtered of lint and blown indoors to add heat and humidity to the house. That keeps the air healthier for us and reduces the electric use too.

  4. Hi Jim and Nena:

Funny. My wife made the same statement. “Omar, las horquillas parecen pequeñas luces.” I guess women are more acuting in seeing things than men. Remember the book? “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus”.

We pay zero, zilch, naught, nill, nada, zippo, zip, nix and so forth in electricity to dry our clothes. Nature does it for free. 🙂

    Have a great day,

    Omar.-
