Abdiel, the eldest of the Twisters, is beginning to show his stripes. During his last visit, he gathered some old leaves, a fresh amount of black soil, chopped wood and deposited all this organic material under a tree in our back yard. I thought it would make a good picture and went ahead and took a shot at the scene. I’m sure Abdiel will like to see later on in his life what he did when he was a kid. Photographers, whether professional or amateurs, are the historians of the modern era.
“Once the amateur’s native approach and humble willingness to learn fades away, the creative spirt of good photography dies with it. Every professional should remain always in his heart, an amateur.”—Alfred Eisentaedt
