Faces of Panama Immersed in a Sea of Color

Snapshot of Irma “La Douce” working at El Rey Supermarket in Panama City, Panama. Notice the bright colors surrounding her workplace. Absolutely beautiful. Isn’t photography great? Photo by ¬©Omar Upegui R.
Irma poses for the camera with a shy smile. She was kind enough to make a small pause in her work to give me a warm Panamanian smile. Thanks gal. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.

  1. Whatever she’s cutting up looks wonderful. But — what is it? I thought it was papaya at first, but after a second look, I’m not so sure. What I am sure of is that the second photo is wonderful. What a nice smile she has.

  2. I think she was cutting cantaloupes into small chunks and packing them into plastic boxes to be displayed and marketed at the supermarket’s refrigerated shelves.

She was very bashful in the first picture. Then I remembered a word that some photographers use to break the ice. The word was “sex“, strange enough the woman instantaneously broke into a friendly smile. I don’t why, but it always works.
