A Flower Clock in Panama

Snapshot of an enticing flower clock at the cinta costera. When I shot the picture it was about seven minutes after seven o’clock by just looking at the hands of the clock. The black and white top at the top of the picture is a speaker which indicates the correct time exactly at the top of the hour. It is totally illuminated at night. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.

It was impressive to see this amazing flower clock sprouting towards the sun in the middle of the Coastal Strip. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.

  1. I do like the way the flowers are mixed in the planting. I am curious about the speaker – does a “person” simply announce the time? That seems a little jarring, but maybe not. Are there clock towers in the city which strike the hour with chimes?

  2. Hi Linda:

The speakers magnify the chimes of the clock to indicate the time. Something like the chimes of Big Ben in London.

We have sun clocks in the city, but no clock towers which strike the hours with chimes.

    Regards,

    Omar.-
