According to retail consultant Howard Davidowitz of Davidowitz & Associates, approximately 220,000 stores may close this year in the United States.
As more Americans save and spend less, it’s clear there’s too much retail space. Just visit Web site deadmalls.com and track retail’s growing body count. Any luxury retailers? They’re on “life support,” Davidowitz says.
Among the brand name stores Davidowitz says are in trouble we have:
- Nordstrom
- Neiman Marcus
- Tiffany
- Jeweler Zale Corp
- Saks
- J.C. Penny
- Sears
Yep, when things gets tough, tighten your belt and don’t open your wallet unless you really have to. The worse is yet to come. Good Day.
Sure, Mr. Upegui. I wouldn´t be surprised if those stores send that merchandise to Panama at very low, prices. Tell your wife.
Hi AS:
I haven’t thought of that. I can’t say that to my wife; she’ll wipe out our bank account! 🙂
Regards,
Omar.-
Nooo, sir! Those “boutiques” are really inexpensive. Do thank the Lord she doesn´live where I do or, I´d surely invite her shopping… and you you would be so happy with your new Tommy H. bermudas for only $9.99. It is a wise way of saving money…
Hi AS:
At this moment in time, I’m keeping my sails down until the storm is over. One bank in Panama already went down.
Best Regards,
Omar.-
Sure, I know what you mean. This is a time of austerity. Regards,
