Young Boy With School Phobia

As you know, there are all kinds of phobias. Wikipedia Encyclopedia defines “phobia” as,

“an irrational, intense, persistent fear of certain situations, objects, activities, or persons. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject.”

This post is about a special phobia developed by a ten-year-old kid. Diego Palacios was so afraid to return to school after the Christmas break that he glued his hand to his bed. His mother, Sandra Palacios, spent nearly two hours trying to free her son’s hand with water, oil and nail polish remover before calling authorities.

Police Chief Jorge Camacho, from outside the northern city of Monterrey, Mexico commented he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I didn’t want to go to school because vacation was so much fun,” Reforma newspaper quoted the boy as saying.

Diego’s mother said her naughty boy sneaked into the kitchen in the early morning to get the industrial glue, which he then slathered on his right hand. She didn’t hear him get up, but later awoke and found him watching TV with his hand stuck to the bed.

“I don’t know why he did it,” she said. “He’s a good boy, but mischievous like all kids.”

Diego’s hand was fine, and paramedics managed to unstick him in time for class. Yep, I think his school phobia was taken care of. 🙂

  1. Hi Don:

I love WordPress. It’s much easier to use and with a whole lot of bells and whistles.

I will keep using LJ until I feel totally comfortable with WP. I plan to start inserting scripts to personalize the site; however I have to admit this is not my expertise.

A feature that I really treasure is the “spam blocking”. WP does a great job at crushing those bugs. So far 55 spam comments have been stopped.

  2. One thing to remember with WordPress and other blogging engins that may not automatically reduce the size of upload graphics, is to do it prior to uploaded them.

When I was using windows, I used

Now on Linus I use gimp. You can take a photo that takes up 1.5 meg and set for Internet display and it may take 40kb.

Since WP has a limit of about 50 meg, you want to get the photos to display using as little space as possible.
