As Firefox becomes more visible, it’s a target for malicious attacks.  Therefore, Mozilla Devs are always on the alert and releasing new security and stability patches.  The latest release is version 3.5.7, which was unveiled yesterday.

Mozilla didn’t say much about this patch, except that it :

  • Fixed a common stability issue.
  • Fixed a problem with how updates were being presented to users.

You can update your Firefox web browser by going to your Help Menu and clicking the “Check for Updates” option, or by clicking this link. It works either way.  I encourage you to always have the latest version available to avoid any unnecessary risks.

The Web is all about innovation, and Firefox sets the pace with dozens of new features to deliver a faster, more secure and customizable Web browsing experience for all.  Good Day.

In an effort to maintain the reputation of having one of the best Web browsers around, the honchos at Flock just came up with a new version of Flock—version 2.5.6.

This latest release  addresses the Flickr logout issues and Twitter sidebar issues that some people have been experiencing. 2.5.6 also includes a Firefox security update and various other fixes, all of which you can read about in the release notes.

It is recommended that you update your old Flock version to this latest release.  Remember that the Internet is not as friendly as it used to be.   Don’t let those pesky viruses enter your computer and gobble up your hard disk.  It’s not a happy experience, believe me.  Good Day.

Flock’s devs have worked on a new release of its popular social web browser.  The purpose of this latest version is to fix a problem with Flickr and several other issues.

This is what Evan Hamilton, Flock’s Community Ambassador, had to say about version 2.5.1:

Flock 2.5.1 is available today (July 28, 2009) from the Flock homepage. This release fixes the Flickr issue I mentioned in my previous post as well as several other issues.

You will have to manually update to 2.5.1 at this time by downloading and running the 2.5.1 installer from our homepage. We’ll be pushing out auto-updates as soon as we’ve had sufficient time to test the auto-update process across all platforms (don’t worry: manual updating is quick, safe, and clean). Please make sure you restart your computer after installing 2.5.1.

Thanks to all of you who brought this issue to our attention. As always, if you experience any issues in the future, please don’t hesitate to let us know by posting to our GetSatisfaction page. We’ve always got our ears on.

Our endless appreciation goes out to you for your patience during this period.

Evan Hamilton

Mozilla is taking no chances with its popular Web browser as far as security and stability is concerned.  A critical flaw was found in Version 3.5 and immediately they came out with a security patch identified as Version 3.5.1.

Mozilla updated Firefox  to version 3.5.1 for Windows, Mac, and Linux yesterday, fixing a security problem, improving stability, and speeding launch time on some Windows systems, according to the release notes.

“We strongly recommend that all Firefox 3.5 users upgrade to this latest release,” browser director Mike Beltzner said in a blog post Thursday.

Firefox 3.5 embodies Mozilla’s hope to build a better foundation for Web applications, but about two weeks after its debut, a vulnerability in the browser’s JavaScript engine came to light.  Mozilla rated it “critical” because an attacker could create a Web site that would run malicious code on the computer.

The new version can be installed from Mozilla’s download site or by selecting “Check for Updates” in the Help menu.   Unfortunately, you will be warned that the newly updated Gears 0.5.29.0 plug-in from Google  becomes incompatible again.
