I Am Panama
January 5, 2013 by Omar Upegui R.

Snapshot of a young woman selling newspapers at Via España in Panama City. “Soy Panama” is translated in English as, “I am Panama”. Indeed, the people are the flesh and bone of a country. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R./Michael Moore

Great photo – and nice application of text. And yes, the people are the heart of a country – the newspaper publishers, the newspaper sellers and the newspaper readers!
Morning Linda:
Thank you for your kind comment, just like the morning sunshine outside my window.
Enjoy the rest of the day,
Omar.-
What a great picture.
The young lady looks like carved mahogany. Fantastic. And you followed the rule of thirds in photo taking, she’s not centered in the photo but offset to the left third of the frame. I’m guessing early morning shadows to add contrasts and taken from a low angle to add the sky in the background.
I think this may be my new favorite photo. Thank you!

Howdy Jim and Nena:
Your observations about the picture are accurate. I was taking into consideration the shooting angle, the rule of thirds and the golden light of the early morning. You can see that on the left hand of the image.
I’m glad you enjoyed the picture. Expect more of the same in the future.
Thank you for your kind remarks; they propel me to work harder.
Enjoy the rest of the day,
Omar.-
