Having the year 2011 behind our back, I thought it would be a good idea to measure how well or how bad our blog performed during the past year. My plan was to write about my experiences about the posts that I had written, and a general comment of the reaction of the readers over the year. I had some statistics from WordPress, but not much. I was in for a great surprise on the late afternoon of December 31, 2011.
Out of the blue, I received an e-mail from the guys of WordPress with a thorough analysis of the performance of Lingua Franca for year 2011. I was appalled by the amount of information they had on my blog. For example, I learned that Lingua Franca is read in all the continents of Planet Earth, (e.g., North, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. It’s even read in a place called Norther Mariana Islands which I had no idea even existed, until I Googled it up on the Internet.
I found out that most of my visitors came from the United States, Panama and The United Kingdom. That is a no brainier, since the United States and the U.K. was my target audience when I started the blog. But Asia, Africa and Oceania were really off my radar screen. Another interesting fact I learned about Lingua Franca, is that the most commented post in 2011 was a post about the availability of Netflix in Panama. That means that there’s an interest for streaming movies in this neck of the woods.
In case you are interested in learning more about Lingua Franca, I decided to include a copy of the information I got from WordPress. I wish to publicly express my appreciation for the excellent work these guys do for their bloggers. It’s far beyond my wildest expectations of really splendid customer service. In my opinion, WordPress is the best blogging platform you can get your paws on at this moment. Thank you guys, for giving me such a wonderful 2011 present.
