Even though Netflix is relatively new to the market of streaming contents and delivering CDs, it grew large enough to dethrone Blockbuster which recently went belly up. Due to royalty restrictions, Netflix was only streaming to the United States. Then they tested the waters and expanded their operations to Canada where they did extremely well.
Now I understand Netflix is seriously thinking on expanding its operations to other parts of the world. After expanding its streaming service into Canada, it seems Netflix is looking elsewhere internationally to build its business.
As Netflix expands internationally, the company is leaving its DVD-by-mail service in its wake. In October, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings echoed that sentiment, saying that the focus of his company is changing. He also acknowledged at the time that he was looking outside of North America to expand Netflix’s streaming operation.

Hey Omar,
I have a question. Do Netflix customers actually download a movie? Do they get to keep a copy for the price of a rental?
Thanks…
Hi Bob:
I understand you get unlimited TV episodes & movies for only $7.99 a month. You will be able to instantly watch unlimited TV episodes & movies streaming over the Internet to your TV via an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii or any other device that streams from Netflix. You can also watch instantly on your PC or Mac too!
Plus, you get unlimited DVDs by mail for just $2 more a month – exchange each DVD as often as you want!

I live in Panama, so I’m outside Netflix’s radar. When I tried to subscribe to their service, I saw the following message:
“You will need a valid U.S. mailing address to sign up for Netflix. Also, you will only be able to watch instantly if you are in the 50 United States or Washington, D.C. It looks like you are outside the United States. If this is incorrect, please contact your Internet provider for help. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”
Regards,
Omar.-
Hi Bob, there is no download of the movie like on some sites, the movie is played directly to your device, you can pause, stop, restart, even come back a different day and pick up where you left off. You can rewatch the same movie as many times as you want.
The basic service used to include on DVD delivered at a time plus streaming, that plan changed to streaming only if you want for less money, it took effect in December.
The selection of movies is not unlimited and not all TV shows are listed but the variety of viewing should be enough to overwhelm anyone. I love the National Geographic series plus PBS shows and there are hundreds available.
My grandkids love all the kid shows as well.
