I visited Parque Urraca two weeks ago. The visit was not exactly to the park. In fact, I was interested in participating in the population census which would be carried out by the General Comptroller’s Office. This building is located adjacent to Parque Urraca. I got there early in the morning, since I was interested in getting a parking space near the site. I think it was somewhere around 6:00 a.m. when I got there.
Obviously, the park was empty. Oops, I did see several early birds looking for worms. As I walked across the park, I saw a lonely figure in the distance. I thought it was unusual to find somebody at the park at such an hour. I got closer. The figure seemed to be reading something. How could he read with such a dim light, I thought? I got closer. Then I saw another figure next to the first one. It was a small person. I got closer. It was an older man and a young boy. The older man was reading a book and the boy was also reading the same book. At that age, kids don’t read, I thought. I got closer.
When I was within a stone throwing distance, I noticed the old man was in fact reading a book, but the young child was playing with a cellphone. Now that made sense, I thought. No need to get any closer. I asked permission to take their photograph and the old man accepted. Below are several pictures following the narration of the story of reading in the park. Here we go.

At this distance, it seems that the old man and the young boy are reading the same book. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.

It turned out, the grandfather was reading a book and his grandson was playing with a cell phone. Photo by ©Omar Upegui R.
When I discovered the mystery of the two lonely figures at the park, I smiled with deep satisfaction. There was a warm bond between the grandfather and his grandson. A lovely bond between two human beings at a park on a cool early morning. Good Day.

Omar:

Saludos a Aura,

Hola Hilda:
Saludos,
Omar.-
