Some people are born for great things no matter what. Many of them are not even aware that they have extraordinary talents until the time is ripe. It happened to Paul Potts who exploded into a global Opera singer at a talent contest show known as Britain’s Got Talent. Every once in a long while, “reality” television offers up a moment worth sharing.
It happened again to a 47 year old lady from a poor village in Scotland. When 47-year-old small town spinster Susan Boyle stepped on to the stage of Britain’s Got Talent and announced she was unemployed, had never been married and “never been kissed, actually,” few in the audience would have wondered why.
Susan Boyle wowed the judges with her performance in the auditions for Britains Got Talent, singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables.
In her appearance, Boyle first charms the obviously skeptical judges and audience with quips about her age and attractiveness, then blows them out of the water with her pitch-perfect perfect performance.
Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore added fuel to the sudden fire under Ms. Boyle by Tweeting about her, and at last count the video of her performance on YouTube had been watched more than 5 million times.
At 47 she lives alone with her cat Pebbles, who is ten years old. Never been kissed and is currently employed. She was never given a chance to make it big. Britain’s Got Talent was her golden opportunity to make the audience rock. And rock they did, believe me.
The audience rose within seconds to applaud her incredible voice as the celebrity judges sat open-mouthed, and remained standing to the end, delivering a standing ovation that had even the most hardened reality TV snob tearing up.
According to reports, judge Simon Cowell is already lining up a record deal.
All of this fuss must be difficult to comprehend for the youngest of nine children who had given up a potential singing career to look after her sick mother, but it’s just beginning. Boyle will be back for the second round of the series, which she’s currently rated at odds of 5/2 of winning by UK bookmakers.

Miracles do happen. I’ve seen it happen with Paul Potts and now with Susan Boyle. Good Day.

I usually don’t watch these programs. However, her performance left me crying. Wow is all I can say. I hope all her dreams come true.
Hello Michael:
In my mind Susan Boyle is an angel trapped inside a human body. Her voice is absolutely angelical.
I was totally stunned with her performance. The judges and the audience were in for a sudden surprise. Her outward looks contrasted so much with her voice.
The theme of her song was very appropriately selected.
Have a pleasant day,
Omar.-
Very lovely blog written about this lovely lady. Her voice is so beautiful. I want her to rise to the top even more for her caring and love taking care of her sick mother. It is her time to shine — go Susan Boyle.
Hi Tinkerbellsmommakat:
I totally echo with your words. Susan Boyle rocks!
