For more than three years I have done nothing to make my computer a lean mean machine. There was too much pain in my pocket.
After saving a penny here and a penny there, I managed to purchase two 1GB memory cards to upgrade my computer to 2GB which should be enough for my blogging needs.
I purchased the Kingston memory cards (PC3200 DDR 400 MHZ) for $40.95 each at Planet Computer Store. The owner of the store, Cristobal, told me he could install the cards at no extra cost. I took his word and two days ago I had my cards installed. Now I feel like driving a Ferrari.
While I was at the computer store, I saw several small tripods. I needed a tripod, so I asked for the price. I was in for a surprise—$3.90. Of course I purchased it immediately, before the lady changed her mind. I need a small tripod to take small pictures with very low light. I haven’t tried that yet, but should be doing so in the near future as I climb the learning curve of photography.
Last night I took a picture of the newly purchased tripod. This is what a bought for only $3.90. Here we go.

In shooting this photos, I experimented with light. Instead of using the light of my office compact fluorescent lamp (CFL), I decided to use a tungsten spot light that my wife uses to illuminate our outdoors Christmas ornamentations. Since I wanted a soft light, I turned my camera’s flash off and covered the spotlight with a coffee paper filter.
The filtered light was soft enough to avoid an overexposure of the tripod or the wall behind it. Playing with light last night was lots of fun. Good Day.
